優しい悲劇｜Flourishing Guitar Tabs

I believe “Yasashii Shigeki” (Gentle Tragedy) is the most artistic masterpiece in Kuroyume’s discography.

Being one of their earlier works, it takes over two minutes just to reach the chorus. However, the emotional arrangement that unfolds during this buildup is a “tragedy” in itself—one that never feels tedious and makes those two minutes pass by in what feels like an instant.

The arrangement, featuring clean-tone arpeggios and snare rolls set in the key of B♭ minor, highlights a sense of ambiguous darkness and evokes the chilling atmosphere of winter.

The chord progression is also remarkable. In the second measure of the chorus, it moves to the minor dominant (Fm), followed by a dominant seventh on the fourth degree (E♭7) in the third measure. While simple, this is not a progression you often encounter.

The entire piece is, quite simply, flawless.

In my opinion, Kiyoharu is a compositional genius who knows exactly how to refine and showcase his greatest strengths.
